About Mango Lassi

Mango lassi is one of the most popular Indian street food beverages made using plain yoghurt (curd/dahi) along with fresh mangoes and sugar.

This is a refreshing summer drink that has a rich, creamy and thick texture.

Basic simple ingredients are required to make this delicious thick mango lassi.

During the summer season, we love to indulge in a variety of mango-based drinks such as Mango Mastani which is a delicious mango milkshake that actually originated from Pune.

Apart from that, we also make Kairi Che Panhe (Panha) which is a sweet and tangy drink made with raw mangoes (kairi), jaggery and cardamon. Itโ€™s a refreshing drink that is not only incredibly delicious but also helps guard against heat stroke.

This mango lassi can also be made vegan using vegan yogurt like almond and coconut.

ingredients

Mango Puree โ€“ You can use fresh mango puree or canned puree for making this lassi. Instead of making puree you may also just cut the mangoes into cubes and add them. Alpanso and kesar mangoes are the best when making mango lassi.

Curd (Yogurt) โ€“ To make mango lassi, plain yogurt is used. Itโ€™s best to use yogurt made from full-fat milk which helps give lassi nice thick consistency. You can also use Greek yogurt to make this lassi.

Sugar โ€“ Adjust the sugar depending upon the sweetness of the mangoes.

Ice Cubes โ€“ Adding ice cubes is optional but if you want your lassi to be too chilled I would highly recommend using them.

For Garnish โ€“ To garnish this mango lassi, you can use nuts like almonds and pistachios. Add some soaked strands of kesar also gives a fantastic aroma to this lassi.

Spices โ€“ If you like, you may also add spices like cardamon or cinnamon which give a subtle flavour to this mango lassi. (itโ€™s optional though)
