Method
- Marinate prawns with red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, coriander powder, ginger-garlic paste, tamarind pulp and salt. Marinate for 15 minutes.
- For coating, in a mixing plate, add rava (semolina), rice flour, red chilli powder, turmeric powder. Mix well.
- Coat the marinated prawns with spiced rava mixture and shallow fry.
- Flip and fry from both the sides until crisp.
- Prawn rava fry - Kolambi fry is ready.
Air Fryer
- Preheat the air fryer to 180°C (350°F) for about 3-5 minutes.
- Lightly spray or brush the fryer basket with oil.
- Place the prawns in a single layer in the fryer basket. Make sure the prawns are well-coated and not too moist.
- Lightly brush or spray the prawns with soil to help them crisp up.
- Cook at 180°C (350°F) for 8-10 minutes. Flip halfway through.
- You will need to adjust the time depending on the size of the prawns.
- Once golden brown and crisp, remove the prawns immediately from the fryer and serve.
Tips for Air Frying:
- Do not overcrowd the basket as it can lead to uneven cooking.
- Even though we are making it in the air fryer, lightly coating the prawns with oil will help the semolina (rava) become crisp.
- Halfway through, make sure to flip the prawns so they cook evenly from all sides.
- Prawn rava fry - Kolambi fry is ready.
