Flaxseed Chutney | Javas Chutney | Alsi Chutney Recipe

Flaxseed chutney is a flavourful & nutritious spice powder made from roasted flaxseeds, combined with nutty sesame seeds, coconut and spices.
This chutney is a healthy twist on traditional Indian chutneys.
This is a vegan, nutritious, omega-3 rich, fiber rich, beginner-friendly & diabetic-friendly condiment to include in your day-to-day diet.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Whole Flaxseeds
  • 1/4th cup Sesame Seeds
  • 1/4th cup Dry Coconut
  • 4 Dry Red Chillies
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 2 sprigs Curry Leaves
  • 4 Garlic Cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon Oil

Instructions
 

  • Heat a thick bottom pan, add whole flaxseeds and dry roast for 2-3 minutes, stirring continuously.
  • Once well roasted, they will start to pop & release their nutty aroma.
  • Transfer the flaxseeds to a plate & let them cool.
  • Dry roast sesame seeds for 2 minutes until they turn lightly brown. Once done, set them aside to cool.
  • Heat half a teaspoon of oil, toss in garlic cloves and saute for 30 seconds.
  • Add 2 sprigs of curry leaves, saute for another minute till leaves turn crisp.
  • Toss in dry red chillies, dry red chillies and cumin seeds.
  • Roast this mixture on low heat, stirring continuously.
  • Roast till coconut turns golden brown & the spices release their aroma.
  • Once roasted, set aside this mixture to cool down completely.
  • Once all the roasted ingredients have cooled, add them to the blender.
  • Add half a teaspoon of red chilli powder and salt to taste.
  • Blend on pulse mode to get a coarse texture.
  • Healthy Flaxseed Chutney is ready.
  • Store it in an airtight container and use when required.
